Steam it for about 8 min in the microwave. I melt a little salt free butter to dip the bottom of the leaves in, scrape the "meat" at the bottom of the leaf off with your teeth. The leaves have a pointed thorn I cut off before cooking, or get the globe variety. After you eat all the thicker leaves you remove the center thistle, I use a spoon to gentle scrape them off, then dip and eat the heart. Delicious! Grew up eating them in the spring. I also love to eat baked sweet potatoes.
